The Board of Trustees of Moleboheng Matli Foundation NPC, MMF, custodians of the Africa Youth Exchange Scholar Program, AYESP, has officially announced their decision to drop one of the five South African girls/ learners from her scheduled Pre-University Admission Excursion to the United States of America in September 2023.
The affected girl/ learner’s particulars are as follows:

Under this maiden edition of the AYESP Program, MMF has secured full board scholarships in partnership with the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce in Tennessee State to sponsor 10 African girls/learners – five from South Africa and five from Nigeria – to the United States of America between September and October 2023 for a pre University admission excursion.
The girls are expected to gain provisional admission for the 2024 academic session for themselves by achieving acceptable scores as required by each University they enrolled with to redeem the scholarships.
The decision to release Miss Moabelo from the scholarship program, according to a media statement signed by MMF President, Ambassador Moleboheng Matli, followed the inability of the foundation to obtain a certified true copy of the Learner’s Parental Consent / Approval for her participation in the AYESP program, as required by MMF Board of Trustees.
In line with the law, MMF sent a Letter of Release / Indemnity to the parents of all AYESP’s selected girls/learners to assent and return to the foundation’s secretariat, unfortunately the reply from Ms. Lucia Kgulufelo Moabelo (the parent/ legal guardian of Miss Moabelo) to the foundation is as follows:
“We have a problem, my baby Daddy will not let her participate. He now lives with her”.
To this end, and in alignment with MMF’s resolve to give five South African girls/ learners the opportunity to be part of this edition of AYESP program, the MMF Board of Trustees has decided to replace Miss Moabelo with one of the two girls/learners, who had initially made the foundation’s screening but did not make the TOP 5 as per the programs limited number of learners being maximum 10.
MMF wishes Miss Moabelo all the best with her future studies and endeavours, and further uses this opportunity to assure the public of its unflinching support for the education and development of the girlchild in Africa, and reiterates her commitment to the AYESP course.
Education is a priority, and it sits as number four of the United Nations Sustainable Goals 2030.
