Fuel, Naira Scarcity: Ondo APC Appeals To Protesters, Calls For Patience

It will be a political malfeasance as a responsible political party not to lend our voice to the ongoing protest in Akure, Ondo State as a result of the hardship caused by the fuel scarcity and the insufficient and unreasonable time limit which Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, gave for swapping of old Naira notes to new ones.

Our people in the State are groaning about their current living condition, a situation that threatens us a the ruling party in the state. We therefore found it pertinent to set the record straight. As a political party we are having the back of the people and in complete sympathy with them in their agitation that this currency scarcity and the time limit attached to it is insufficient and must the addressed by the CBN immediately.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Ondo State Chapter, raised these concerns in a statement signed by its Director, Media & Publicity, Steve Otaloro, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the party at the national level has addressed the issue in same manner that this idea of limited time allotted to change to new naira notes must be extended.

In same vein, APC State Chairman, Engr Ade Adetimehin, reiterated in the statement that APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has also spoken openly against this unnecessarily short time allotted to naira notes swap and the fuel scarcity issue as a consequential danger to Nigerians wellbeing meant to deprive him of the Presidency but seriously hurting the people.

His words; “We are totally in alliance with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that this two issues are targeted to deprive our party’s candidate at the pool as latest revelations by the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam El Rufai had since revealed the hand of the fifth columnist in it.

“This revelations has since vindicated our party in this shameless and unwarranted policy coming at a time of a crucial national assignment of general elections. It was said that some element within the presidency that are not members of our political party, working underground for the emergence of the opposition party was responsible for the policy that is depriving our people in the state, and indeed Nigerians of their livelihood.

“We are appealing to Ondo State citizens to remain calm and not engage in further protest that will violate other citizens right to move freely in pursuit of their daily bread. You should all take solace in the Supreme Court ruling that ordered a suspension of the deadline for the swapping of old to new Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.”

Ade Adetimehin further noted that APC Ondo State chapter, is seeking for the people’s understanding on these issues, especially, to keep a renewed hope for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the man that will turn things around for Nigerians, if elected Nigeria next president.
