President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the validity of only the old 200 naira notes till April 10, 2023.
Speaking in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday morning, President Buhari ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to immediately reintroduce the old N200 notes to circulation.
He noted that the old N200 notes should run concurrently with the new N200, N500 and N1000 notes for 60 days beginning from February 10, 2023 to April 10, 2023.
He, however, said the old N500 and N1000 notes have ceased to be legal tender and that Nigerians with the old notes are free to return them to the Bank within the April 10 deadline.
