Party leaders, candidates, polling agents and voters, in Ikorodu, have scored officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, high on performance in the just concluded Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections.

The people, who spoke to NigeriaCheck Newspaper, hailed the electoral officials’ early arrival at the various polling units and the prompt commencement of accreditation and voting in most voting units in Ikorodu.

Commenting on the process, minutes after casting his vote at Polling Unit 017, All Progressives Congress, APC’s candidate, Aro Moshood Abiodun, AMA, scored INEC 95% in performance.

He said INEC’s performance in the Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections, in Ikorodu, is a clear departure from the abysmal performance exhibited during the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

Also, an APC Chieftain, in Ijede Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Oluwatosin Onamade, also gave INEC a pass mark. He praised INEC’s officials’ early arrival at the polling units and the subsequent smooth handling of the entire exercise.

He also thanked the people of Ikorodu, especially residents of Ijede LCDA, for turning out en mass to exercise their civic responsibility and shunning violence in the process.

Onamade, who noted that he particularly called an early morning emergency meeting, and urged the party members to go all out into the streets to appeal to residents to come out and vote, expressed confidence that with the turnout, Ijede LCDA would deliver the largest number of votes to all APC candidates in the elections.

Similarly, the Regent of Okeletu, in Ijede LCDA, High Chief Abiodun Adeyemi Nobiu, also praised INEC, Security Agents and his people for ensuring a very smooth voting process.

According to Chief Nobiu, the voting atmosphere at Okeletu, during the election was nothing short of peace and calmness, despite the initial hiccups experienced at Okeletu Primary School, Polling Unit 001.

Earlier, when NigeriaCheck Newspaper visited the voting unit, the people, including the party agents, had lamented INEC officials’ late arrival at the unit as well as their excuse of forgotten one of the BVAS at the rack-centre; hence delaying the commencement of accreditation and voting at the unit.

Commenting on the delay, Chief Nobiu said; “The exercise has since been very smooth, good, and clear. We are voting and voting has been very okay since morning. There has not been any violence or fighting in any part of the community. We have been able to control the situation. As the leader of the community, I have been able to control the youths, women and elders of Okeletu, and for the turnout, it has been very great. In the last election, we didn’t have so many people like this, but this has been an improvement on the previous turnout.”

The Regent further noted that the people trooped out to vote for the ruling party due to its sterling performance in the area, so far.

His words; “You know our roads are currently under construction. You can see the work of the government on Ijede road and in every corner of our environment. That’s a enough reason for the people to troop out to vote for the sitting government.”

In the same vein, NigeriaCheck News Crew engaged the State Commissioner of Transport, Dr. Fredrick Oladeinde, at his Polling Unit along Grammar School, in Ikorodu, some seconds after casting his vote.

But contrary to his complaint about shortage of ballot papers at his voting unit, during the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, Dr Oladeinde, this time around, scored INEC high, awarding them 80% in overall performance.

He also hailed the security agents for being very civil in carrying out their duties and commended the people’s early turnout as well as their violent free disposition to the process.

He, however, expressed optimism that the huge turnout and seamless process would count for his candidate at the end of the exercise.
