Disregard Rumours, I’m Hale and Hearty – Tinubu

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has told Nigerians and well-wishers to disregard rumours maligning his state of health, insisting he is hale and hearty.

The President-elect stated this, on Monday, following his arrival, in Abuja, after a month’s rest in France.

The former Governor of Lagos State also declared his readiness for the task ahead.

Tinubu left for France, on Tuesday, March 21 to rest and plan the transition programme ahead of his inauguration on May 29.

There had been rumours, especially by the opposition parties about his state of health, since he travelled out of the country.

It is expected that his return to the country will bring to rest all the rumours concerning his state of health.

Tinubu arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 4:30pm to the waiting hands of enthusiastic party chieftains, associates and supporters.

The president-elect came in accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and his son, Seyi Tinubu.

Tinubu, who was cheered by party chieftains, members and supporters headed straight to his vehicle after briefly acknowledging his supporters, who had thronged the airport to welcome him.

A statement signed by Tunde Rahman, Office of President-elect, said Tinubu told supporters that having observed the much needed rest, he is now refreshed.

Speaking to his supporters, who apparently escorted him home, the President-elect said: “I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead.

“Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”

Asked about his plans for the country, he said he had been consulting and planning with a view to putting together a strong team, so he could hit the ground running once he assumes office on May 29.

Some party leaders at the airport to receive him are: Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governors Simon Lalong of Plateau and Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger, former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff.

Also at the airport are; former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; APC Deputy National Chairman, North, Abubakar Kyari; Deputy National Chairman, South, Emma Enekwu; and National Woman Leader, Dr. Betta Edu.

Others are; Senators Barau Jibril, Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Opeyemi Bamidele, Dayo Adeyeye, Sabi Abdullahi and Adelere Oriolowo as well as the Secretary of the recently-dissolved Presidential Campaign Council, James Faleke; Hon. Babajimi Benson and the Director of Media and Publicity, Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga.
