Tinubu Picks George Akume, As SGF, Confirms Gbajabiamila Appointment As Chief of Staff

President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.

This is coming less than 24hours after appointing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff, CoS.

The presidential villa confirmed the appointments in a statement signed by its Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, and made available to newsmen on Friday, June 2.

According to the statement, Tinubu also picked a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Ibrahim Hadejia, as his Deputy Chief of Staff, DCoS.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, in Abuja announced the appointment of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff, and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as his Deputy Chief of Staff.

“In a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF”, the statement reads.

The appointments came after the President evaluated all former governors, lawmakers and party executives jostling to occupy the aforementioned seats.
