– Wike Shrugs Off Rumors On Plans To Join APC
Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has shrugged off his rumoured plans to decamp to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The former governor, when asked if he is considering such plan, following his meeting with President Tinubu, he simply told the interviewer not to mention it. He said, “Don’t say that”.
Wike was in the meeting with the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde and a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori.
Speaking on their meeting with Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde said the reason they met the met the president was to show support for his administration.
On the issue of fuel subsidy removal, the Oyo State Governor described it as a tough decision, but noted that the President has started on the right path.
He said: “We discussed it. It’s something that is on top of public discourse right now. We know it’s a tough decision for the people and he needs the support of everybody to see this through.”
The governor, however, called on Nigerians to support for the new policy.
On his part, Wike added: “There’s no big deal about it, the governor of Oyo has told you what we came to do; to give him support. We are supporting all the decisions he’s taking, it shows that he’s prepared for the job and there’s nothing bad about that.
“It requires tough decisions for a country to move forward.”
