The All Progressives Congress, APC, Ondo State chapter has expressed its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for rescinding his earlier nomination of the opposition party in Ondo State as a board member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from Ondo State.
In a statement signed by its Director, Media & Publicity, Steve Otaloro, APC Ondo State thanked President Tinubu for listening to the popular demand of the party in the state by replacing the former nominee from the opposition party with Hon. Otito Atikase, a party member from the oil-producing communities of Ondo State.
The statement noted that the party had immediately made known its reservation to President Tinubu after the error of commission from the presidency and that the president had taken swift action to replace the earlier nominee with a more qualified and tested political figure from the APC in the state.
The party also expressed its appreciation for the nomination of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde as the Executive Director of corporate affairs in the NDDC, describing both nominees as worthy of the appointment to serve under President Tinubu’s government.
The statement further highlighted the insult felt by the party for the earlier nominee to have denigrated the president and then accept an appointment to serve under the same man he had attacked in a viral video clip. The party thanked President Tinubu for his timeous response to rescind the earlier nomination of the PDP member and replace him with a more qualified and a tested member of the APC family in the state.
The statement also described members of the opposition party hailing the nomination of the PDP nominee as superficial and hypocritical, only interested in using him as their party launch pad towards the coming governorship election in the state next year.
Finally, the party extolled the virtue of President Tinubu as a listening president who heeded the yearning of the party’s members in the state, noting that the initial nomination of the PDP nominee would have only strengthened the opposition against the APC ahead of next year’s governorship election in Ondo State.
