Suspected hoodlums have set ablaze a High Court, in Owutu-Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Registrar of the Court, Oluchi Uduma, confirmed the incident to journalists in Owutu-Edda on Wednesday.
She said the hoodlums invaded the Court premises on Tuesday and set the building ablaze.
Uduma explained that the Court building, documents, and other valuables were completely burnt.
Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area, Chima Nkama, also confirmed the incident, saying the matter has been reported to the police.
Earlier in December 2022, the Magistrate Court in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, had been razed by gunmen.
The incident occurred hours after the High Court in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State was set ablaze.
The burning of Courts in the South-East geopolitical zone is the latest in the series of violent acts perpetrated by non-state actors.
