– Says It’s Unconstitutional, Inapplicable

The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has described the call for Interim National Government by some persons in the country, as unconstitutional.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major-General, Musa Danmadami, said this, at the bi-weekly news briefing on military operations across the country, in Abuja.

Addressing journalists at the event, Major-General Danmadami said those calling for an interim government are mischievous, and warned that the constitution does not provide for an interim national government.

He noted that there would be nothing like interim national government in Nigeria, adding that a general election has been conducted and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that is mandated by the constitution has announced a President-elect.

“It is not our responsibility to speak on that issue, but I know that several calls have been made from the Presidency that there is nothing like an interim national government,” Major General Danmadami said.

He added that the constitution does not provide for an interim national government and anything unconstitutional will not be applicable in Nigeria.
