First batch of Nigerians stranded in Sudan has finally been successfully evacuated to Egypt by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed in a tweet, on Friday, that the first batch of evacuees arrived Aswan, in Egypt late on Thursday.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa in the tweet, however, noted that the evacuees met an already closed border, due to their late arrival.
She added that they are expected to leave early on Friday morning and proceed thereafter to the Airport.
She said, “The first set has arrived at the Aswan border in Egypt, but the border is already closed. They will leave early morning and then proceed to the airport.”
