– Takes Oath of Office Along With His Deputy, Shettima
Against all odds Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially been sworn-in as the 16th President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, amid a festival-like ceremony and fanfare at the Eagle Square.
This is coming despite calls from some detractors and opposition parties for the delay of the inauguration, pending the decision of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on petitions challenging his election victory at the Presidential poll.
Tinubu took oath of office and oath of allegiance between 10.37am and rounded off the process of appending his signature to seal the oath at 10.42am.
President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, were accompanied in the process by former President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha.
Earlier, Kashim Shettima had taken his oath of office and oath of allegiance, as the new Vice President of Nigeria between 10.32am and 10.36am.
As the time of this report, the inauguration process and handing over was still ongoing.
